If you are heading to the culturally diverse and beautiful European region this summers, here are my recommendations for the five destinations that you must not miss.
If you are an American and do not speak any other foreign language, you will be most comfortable in London. There is culture, history, art and entertainment in with plenty for the tourist to see and do. London is actually one of the more affordable cities as there are many restaurants and hotels catering to the budget traveller. Don’t forget to visit a traditional English pub for a taste of the local brew and the traditional English breakfast.
This city is ideal for art enthusiast, culture lovers and foodies, Paris is especially beautiful in the summer. Don’t miss the Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. You should also spend an afternoon just sipping espresso at a road side cafe while people watching.
The eternal city of Rome is great city to visit at any time of the year. Being close to the Mediterranean means it does not suffer the harsh winters that many other great European cities do. Here you need to visit Vatican City, which is theory is a whole country by itself. If you want to shop, then head over to Via Condotti and Via Frattina for the latest in high fashion.
Madrid is pretty similar to New York City where the city never sleeps. When it is daytime, visit the spectacular architecture that fills the city. When it comes to the night the city comes alive with restaurants and bars that offer food and entertainment right up to the wee hours of the night.
The only Eastern European city to make my list, this is an amazing city that is less visited by American tourist. It is definitely one of the best cities in Europe as it is filled with gothic architecture and historical sites which were all not accessible during Communist rule.
